The app was working for me, but reports from users online suggested that Apple Weather was showing no data for others.

This isn't a new issue for Apple's weather app. It went down for some users for an extended period of time in early April. The site 9 to 5 Mac reported that Apple Weather went down twice last month and that it was not yet clear how widespread the issue was this time around. Apple's system status page didn't appear to show any issues with Weather, despite the reports from users.
