Luckin Coffee on Monday introduced a dedicated Americano for the upcoming release of the game Black Myth: Wukong, offering the originally priced RMB 29 (around $4) beverage at a generous discount for RMB 9.88 for first-day buyers. Created by Game Science, Black Myth: Wukong is currently a hot topic as the Chinese mythology-rooted action role-playing game is set to launch globally on Tuesday, four years after its first trailer was released. Luckin said in an earlier Monday post that it has prepared peripheral products, including game-related cup holders and posters, for those who purchase specific coffee packages. However, a subsequent restocking notice stated that the 3D posters were “being sold quicker than our expectations” and would require around 15 days for restocking. The co-branded move is the latest successful marketing campaign for Luckin Coffee after the Chinese coffee chain’s significant achievement in rolling out an alcohol-infused latte with Moutai in September, which set a record by selling more than 5.42 million cups on the first day of its debut.
